2009 Young Lions Competition
This year's competition received a fantastic response--152 participants, an increase of almost 100% over 2008.The winning teams in each category won a trip to Cannes and the opportunity to represent Canada in the official Cannes Lions Young Lions competition.
Every team did us proud, but we were especially chuffed that copywriter Chris Booth and art director Joel Pylypiw from DDB Canada earned the country its first-ever Young Lions award at the festival, a Silver for Film.
Congratulations to everyone who participated. Each of you is helping to put Canada on the international advertising map--today's and, more importantly, tomorrow's.
The Challenge
Participants were asked to develop solutions for Medecins sans frontieres (Doctors Without Borders), an independent international humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, disasters or exclusion from healthcare in more than 70 countries around the world. The objective for all Young Lions participants was to increase awareness of MSF, differentiate it from other NGOs and encourage donations to the organization.
