HOW MANY ADS ARE TOO MANY? On websites, we can handle only so much, according to Massachusetts-based Burst Media.

In a survey of more than 4,000 Web surfers, 75 per cent said they pay less attention to ads appearing on a page they perceive to be cluttered.

What is cluttered? For about half of the surfers, it's more than two ads per page.

The site echoes much of the sentiment we've seen from smart marketers recently: namely, that "[d]ownturns can be opportunities to differentiate your company and your brand in the marketplace." It will also host several white papers that offer timely advice for challenged marketers.

Blogs are everywhere. They've proliferated in recent years, going from virtual obscurity to becoming a respectable form of online media. Proactive Internet users and businesses that recognized the benefits of adding an entirely new content channel propelled this medium forward, and it's thanks to them that blogs now represent a viable advertising opportunity.

As I click through this year's winners, I'm first struck that half are sports-related (and another is somewhat risque).
