File Under: Research

Webness.biz founder Mark Farmer parses the data from PricewaterhouseCooper's Global Entertainment and Media Outlook: 2008-2012 study for the Association of Canadian Advertisers.

Despite "Debbie Downer" headlines to the contrary, Farmer doesn't find newspapers falling off the map. On the contrary, he notes that newspaper will be the third global medium by spending once 2012 comes around, after Internet and TV spending.

That said, readers should keep in mind while reviewing PricewaterhouseCooper's report summary that it was published before the current global economic meltdown, so its predictions may be overly optimistic. On the other hand, the economic situation should affect all media equally, so at the very least, they should compare proportionately to one another.
