About Canada's Pre-qualifying Cannes Young Marketers Competition

As Canada’s official Cannes Lions representative, The Globe is pleased to announce that beginning in 2012, we will be hosting a Cannes Young Marketers, pre-qualifying competition, which is designed to prepare the winning team to compete in Cannes.

We strongly recommend you familiarize yourself with all the information below, so that you do not run into any unexpected road blocks during registration, the competition or while uploading your entry.

‘Like’ us to receive updates about the 2012 Young Lions / Marketers competitions. It's also a great way to stay in touch during the Cannes Lions Festival.

How It Works
Teams are made up of two young marketers, aged 30 or under (born on or after June 24, 1981). Each team member registers separately and will be required to pay a $50 entry fee. Once your payment has been successfully processed, you will receive an email with a confirmation number, which you will need to provide at a later date to access the online brief.

Written Briefs
Teams will have 24 hours to create a 2 page written brief (no more than 1000 words), that would be presented to an advertising agency. The briefs are then uploaded to The Globe's Young Marketers competition site for judging.

Live Presentations
From the submitted written briefs, between 3 to 5 teams will be shortlisted and flown to Toronto to give a PowerPoint presentation of their brief to the judges. A maximum of eight slides is allowed (title slide is optional - but if used, must form part of the eight slide total). The judges will have a maximum of five minutes to ask questions of the contestants immediately following each presentation.

If any of the shortlisted teams selected to do live presentations reside 200 km or more outside of Toronto, The Globe will cover travel expenses to Toronto, as outlined in the Young Marketers Rules and Regulations.

From the shortlisted winners, a final winning team will be selected to represent Canada in the Cannes Young Marketers competition during the Festival, June 17 to 23, 2012.

Important: You will need to provide the order confirmation number assigned to you at the time of your registration to access the online brief. If you do not receive an order confirmation number please contact Tanya Essarie, Competition Administrator immediately.

You should also contact Tanya immediately if you do not receive the email that contains the URL location of the competition brief or if you have any difficulties uploading your entry.

Each individual may only be registered on one team - limit of one entry per team.
