This year's panel of judges, assembled from a pool of award-winning Canadian creatives, is comprised of four juries: Print, Film/Cyber, Media and Young Marketers.
Print
Mary Maddever, VP, Editorial Director, Brunico Communications is the moderator for the Print and Film/Cyber juries. In her role as VP, Editorial Director with Brunico Communications, Mary oversees journalistic policy and procedures for the company’s editorial brands. She is also executive editor of Strategy magazine and its off-shoots, Brunico Communications and Stimulant.

ANDY LINARDATOS – CD, JUNIPER PARKAndy began his career with Palmer Jarvis DDB Vancouver and a short while later, became the first creative hire at Rethink Advertising. In his role, Andy helped the agency win numerous business and creative awards. He then moved to Downtown Partners and then to Juniper Park, where he is now a Creative Director.
Along the way, Andy’s work has been recognized by One Show, Cannes Lions, Marketing, the Clios, the Effies and the Cassies.
COSMO CAMPBELL - CD, DDB, VANCOUVERCosmo began his ad career at a small boutique agency, which was then followed by a short stint in London and then a year in Dubai with Saatchi & Saatchi. Eventually he joined Palmer Jarvis in Vancouver.
During his time at PJ and now DDB, Cosmo has worked with some of Canada’s greatest ad people, which contributed to his work being recognized by all the major international and local award shows. Cosmo has also been consistently ranked among the top creatives in Canada by Strategy Magazine’s Creative Report Card.
LARA PALMER – ART DIRECTOR/CD, LARA PALMER ADVERTISING CREATIVELara is a leading ad industry creative, teacher and speaker. With 20+ years experience, Lara finds creative solutions and brings ideas to life, no matter how large or small the client.
Lara's work has been recognized with both Canadian and International awards that include One Show pencils, CA’s, Andy’s and Cannes Gold Lion. Strategy Magazine lists Lara as one of Canada's top ten most awarded Art Director's of the decade (2000-2010).
NANCY VONK – CO-FOUNDER, SWIMNancy co-founded Swim - a creative leadership lab designed to create fearless leaders for advertising and other industries - with Janet Kestin in 2011.
Nancy and Janet were listed in Creativity magazine’s Top 50 creative people of ’08; were advertising Women of the Year at both the WIN Awards in LA and the AWNY Awards in NY in ’07. In 2011 they were inducted into the Marketing Hall of Legends, and won the Bessie’s Speiss Award. In 2012 both women were among Advertising Age's Top 100 Most Influential Women in Advertising. Their work has also won a variety of awards, including 2 Cannes Grand Prixes, and a Grand Clio.
NELLIE KIM – CD, john st.Nellie joined john st. in 2005 and has been instrumental in john st.'s evolution into one of Canada’s most awarded digital agencies. She has also appeared in Strategy Magazine's Top Art Directors list for 6 consecutive years.
Much of Nellie’s work has been recognized with awards such as 2011’s one of the best social media ideas in the world at SXSW Interactive. Another of her campaigns appeared in Communication Arts and won multiple medals at the Marketing Awards, the ADCCs, and the CMAs over the last five years. Other awards include The One Show, London International Awards and CA. Nellie also has served as a judge on a number of industry-related juries.
PETER IGNAZI - SVP, EXECUTIVE CD, BBDO, TorontoWhile Peter began his career as a research chemist for Dow Chemical in Germany, he eventually moved onto copywriting for such Toronto agencies as Taxi and Downtown Partners DDB. He also spent time in New York as Creative Director and Partner in Amalgamated Advertising.
Peter has judged many national and international shows and has won every major advertising award including Cannes Lions, Clios and One Show pencils. In 2004, he was named top copywriter in Canada, and has twice been included in the top ten list of most awarded copywriters in the world by Boards magazine and The Gunn Report. Since becoming Executive Creative Director, BBDO has been named Agency of the Year by both Strategy Magazine and the Advertising and Design Club of Canada.
RANDY STEIN – PARTNER, CREATIVE, GRIP LTD.At the age of 29, Randy was named Creative Director of the country’s top creative department at Palmer Jarvis DDB, Vancouver. There he led the agency to a then unprecedented three-peat as Strategy Magazine's “Agency of the Year”.
In 2002, Randy joined Grip Limited as a Partner where he helped Grip win Marketing Magazine’s “Agency of the Year” after less than three years in existence – another unprecedented feat. Randy has had the privilege of working on a number of international, iconic brands.

ADDIE GILLESPIE – ASSOCIATE CD, DAREAddie began her career in 2007 at TBWA/Vancouver. In that time, Addie has won numerous major national and international awards at competitions that include One Show, One Show Interactive, Cannes, LIA, CA, Shots, the Webby Awards, Applied Arts, Lotus, Marketing and Digital Marketing.
Addie moved to Dare Vancouver in 2011 where she continues to confuse people by being a writer/art director.
ARI ELKOUBY – CD, ZULU ALPHA KILOAs a seasoned digital veteran, Ari brings over a decade of interactive knowledge and creative horsepower to Zulu Alpha Kilo.
He has overseen numerous global accounts within shops such as Proximity Canada, and DraftFCB as well full-service agencies such as Fallon Worldwide across the boarder in the United States.
Ari has received recognition for his work at Cannes, One Show pencils, ADCCs and he recently appeared on Canada’s top 10 Art Directors list.
CHAD BORLASE – DIRECTOR, DIGITAL CREATIVE, COSSETTEThroughout his 17 years in the advertising business, Chad’s work has provoked reactions and emotionally connected with consumers for a variety of well-known national and international products and services.
Chad’s work has received recognition from Cannes Lions, The Clios, One Show, The Marketing Awards, The London International, Lurzer’s Archive, The Bessies, and The CMA Awards, to name a few. Chad has also judged a variety of industry competitions and sits on numerous committees and boards.
CLARE MERIDEW - EXECUTIVE CD AT OnX/MOMENTUMAs Executive Creative Director at OnX/Momentum, Clare works with teams to come up with brilliant digital creative ideas. Focusing on new business development through strong client relationships, Clare and her teams come up with ideas that emphasis strategy, creativity, technology and emotional connections.
Clare also enjoys speaking at industry-leading events and has judged a number of international award shows.
STEVE MYKOLYN – CBO, TAXISteve joined TAXI in 2001 as Creative Director of Interactive and Design. During the past 11 years he has focused on developing the integration model at TAXI in anticipation of massive changes to the communications industry.
Today, TAXI is recognized globally for its ability to seamlessly combine advertising, interactive and design under one roof. Steve’s relentless pursuit of big ideas has resulted in effective, award-winning campaigns for brands large and small, while being recognized at Cannes Lions, The One Show, the D&AD Awards, and Communication Arts. TAXI was named Canada’s Agency of the Decade in 2010 by Strategy magazine.
STEVE PERSICO – GROUP CD & WRITER, LEO BURNETT, TORONTOSteve has been with Leo Burnett for the span of his seven-year career. In that time, he has won a variety of national and international awards, including 4 Cannes Lions, 23 The One Show and 9 Andy’s. Strategy Magazine as also recognized Steve twice as Canada’s number one copywriter and twice as Canada’s number two copywriter.
He also contributed to Burnett Toronto being the only Canadian agency on the Cannes Report’s Top 10 in North America (2010) and ADCC Agency of the Year in Canada (2011).
VIRGINIA MAGALETTA - EXECUTIVE CD, TWIST IMAGEWith over 12 years of experience as a Digital Creative Director, Virginia understands what it takes to build powerful and integrated campaigns from the ground up.
Devoted to creative storytelling that evokes thought and produces results, Virginia has created and overseen highly successful digital brand experiences for a diverse list of national marketers. And her efforts have been recognized by winning awards in Cannes, New York, London and of course here in Canada. Virginia is responsible for the creative leadership of the agency and sits on the agency’s Executive Management Committee.
Media
The Media jury will be moderated by jury president Cathy Collier, CEO, OMD Canada.Cathy's drive for innovation and new solutions thrives at OMD, as evidenced by OMD dominating the 2012 Media Innovation Awards. Additionally, while under Cathy's leadership, Cossette won three gold Media Lions, four ‘Best in Show’ trophies and dominated Canada’s Media Innovation Awards year after year.

BROOKE LELAND – CONNECTION PLANNING DIRECTOR, JUNGLE MEDIABrooke started her career with Cossette Media for 13 years, and has been with Jungle Media since its launch in 2010. During her career she has worked with a variety of top tier packaged goods marketers, financial partners and hip youth brands.
Known for her media creativity and customer service, Brooke’s work has received both national and international recognition through Media Innovation Awards, an Atomic award, and a Cannes Lion and Effie award, working closely with Leo Burnett.
GINA BANKS – SVP, BUSINESS LEADER, CARAT CANADAGina is an experienced leader, with expertise in strategic planning, purchasing, and organizational development with both agency and advertisers alike. She has worked at a number of Canada’s top agencies building many top brands, including running the media department at a large international brand company.
Gina has also proudly supported Canada’s advertising industry as a board member of BBM, PMB, BES, and ACA.
LEEANNE COMISH – PRESIDENT OF M2UNIVERSALLeeanne’s 25 years as a marketing leader covers a range of experience – from agency to client business and from marketing to sales with both local and global brands.
With a wealth of media, digital, sponsorship, packaging and marketing experience and knowledge, Leeanne leads with passion for people, brands and business results.
JAKE NORMAN – PRESIDENT & CSO, MINDSHARE CANADAJake has been with Mindshare Canada for 7 years, having previously worked with Mindshare Dublin for 5 years. In his current role, Jake is responsible for the overall strategic product of Mindshare Canada as well as having a group of client business teams report to him.
His role was created in 2012 to ensure that Mindshare and their clients continue to grow in an increasingly complex and digitized marketing world. Jake has been part of teams that have won awards in both Ireland and Canada for ideas, strategy and research.
JEF COMBDON – MEDIA DIRECTOR, TARGET MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONSJef heads up Target’s media team in St. John's, Newfoundland. With 20 years experience in the Canadian ad industry, Jef honed his imaginative and strategic approach to media at various Toronto agencies where he worked with a variety of nationally recognized clients.
His work has received numerous industry awards and solid business results for his clients. Jef is passionate about marketing, advertising, and media - especially consumers' behaviour and their relationship with media and brands.
SCOTT HENDERSON – GROUP ACCOUNT DIRECTOR, PHDScott got into the media game in 1995. During his time in the industry, he has accumulated a wealth of experience on a wide variety of categories and clients, including CPG, Telecommunications, Automotive, Retail, Motion Pictures, Beauty and Alcohol.
Recognized by a variety of industry awards, Scott’s work has received Media Innovation Awards, Internationalist Awards and Festival of Media Awards.
Young Marketers
The Young Marketers jury will be co-chaired by Mark Childs, VP Marketing, Campbell’s and Jacqueline O’Sullivan, Marketing Director, Microsoft.
Mark ChildsMark has 25 years marketing and sales leadership experience and provides thought and team leadership for Campell's Canadian soup, beverage and cracker portfolio.
In 2012 he was recognized by the Marketing Hall of Legends with the inaugural Brand Impact Award and by ACE (Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship) with the Gold Star Award.
In his pursuit to raise the profile of innovative Canadian work, Mark helped pioneer the launch of Product of the Year Canada, the Strategy AToMiC Awards and the Canada Young Marketers competition and resulting Cannes Lions 2012 win.
Making the personal decision to be an out gay business role model, Mark founded OPEN, Campbell Company’s global LGBT & Ally employee network, launched the Marketing LGBT Marketing Conference and client led the PFLAG Canada 2012 awareness campaign resulting in the Cannes Lions win. He is currently Board Advisor to Out on Bay Street.
Jacqueline O'SullivanAs Marketing Director at Microsoft Advertising, Jacqueline leads a team focused on partnering with the Canadian advertising community to help them understand the opportunities digital media provides. Jacqueline and her team evangelize digital’s value proposition by offering marketers research and consumer insights, which arms them with the market intelligence needed to make informed decisions. In the two short years that Microsoft Advertising has been active in Canada, the team has nurtured it to a position of third, behind only the UK and US markets in brand awareness among its target audience.

ANDREW SIMON - CHIEF CREATIVE OFFICER, CUNDARIAndrew began his career working at JWT New York and Saatchi & Saatchi Los Angeles, joining DDB Canada in 2001.
He left DDB in 2010 to launch Blammo with Alan Gee, bringing with him a vast collection of Cannes Lions, Pencils, Angels and other awards. Andrew has been featured on CBC’s ‘The National’, Global TV’s National News, CBC radio’s ‘The Age of Persuasion’ and ‘Q’ programs, and has been profiled in The Globe & Mail as well as the Toronto Star.
BRENT CHOI – CHIEF CREATIVE AND INTEGRATION OFFICER, JWT CANADABrent’s last few agencies led him to two “Agency of the Year” wins with two different agencies. Most recently Brent and his team transformed Cundari to being listed as 2012 finalists for each of Strategy’s Agency of the Year and Strategy’s Digital Agency of the Year, as well as Marketing’s Agency of the Year.
Brent’s accomplishments include 2 Cannes Gold Lions, Gold and multiple Bronze Clios, multiple Silver and Bronze LIAs, D&AD Pencil (slice), multiple One Show and Communication Arts in-books, and one of only 11 winners of the inaugural Fast Company Innovation by Design Award. His work has also been featured numerous times in Fast Company, Mashable, Wired, Forbes, CNN, fwa and Creativity.
BRENT NELSEN - SVP, DIRECTOR OF PLANNING, LEO BURNETTWith 20 years experience, Brent has become a proven and highly respected leader in the industry. Prior to joining Leo Burnett Canada, Brent held the position of SVP Planning Director at DDB Chicago and SVP Planning Director at McCann Erickson World Group in New York.
Brent has lead brand and creative strategies nationally and globally for some of the world’s most recognized brands, with his contributions receiving awards such as London International Advertising Awards, Cannes Lions, Effies, Ogilvy’s, Chiats and Cassies.
DOUG MILNEDoug has worked in consumer products and retail for over 20 years across Canada, the US and Latin America with a focus in Sales and Marketing.
Prior to returning to Canada, Doug spent 10 years in various industry leadership roles where he accelerated innovation, business growth and talent development in both growth and turn-around situations. He and his teams have received numerous awards and recognition in the industry and from customers alike.
DAVE WILKIN – FOUNDER, REDWOOD STRATEGICDave and his Redwood team revolutionize how companies and brands engage with youth and communities through building brand awareness and driving product trial through peer-to-peer interactions. Redwood’s strategies provide brands with access to exclusive events and conversations that were previously inaccessible to them.
Dave has received numerous national awards for his marketing approach including being the youngest two-time winner of Profit magazine's Top 20 Entrepreneurs and the youngest recipient of Marketing Mag’s Top 30 Under 30 Marketers. He also speaks at conferences and events and is involved in mentorship programs and youth non-profits.
ELIZABETH FRANK – VP MARKETING, NESTLÉ CANADAAs Vice President Marketing at Nestlé Canada Elizabeth takes great pleasure in coaching and mentoring young marketers across the company, and is an active participant in the Senior Marketing Team.
Throughout 20 years in the Canadian consumer packaged goods industry, Elizabeth has held increasingly progressive positions in Marketing and Sales and is the winner of two industry Cassie Awards recognizing sustained business growth, is a Board Member of the Association of Canadian Advertisers, and a member of Young Presidents Organization’s Toronto chapter.
JACK PERONE – VP DIRECTOR OF STRATEGY, JWTJack is head of strategy at JWT Canada. A multi-award winning planner with over 20 years advertising experience, Jack is a passionate strategic thinker who believes focus and simplicity inspires creativity and drives results.
JENNIFER DAVIDSON – VP, MARKETING, DOMESTIC BRANDS PORTFOLIO, MOLSON COORSJennifer has over 15 years experience and is recognized as brand builder with a global orientation and a record for driving the growth behind a diverse range of brands.
Jennifer has been profiled as one of ten global marketers in The Global Brand CEO for the central role she played as Director of the Brand and Innovation Council, a global council of senior marketers who were charged with coordinating the Coors Light global branding and innovation efforts.
